Fashion Design & Tech Pack Services

A tech pack is a specification document, and a factory is a supplier who builds to spec. We treat apparel development with the same rigour we bring to software: precise requirements, controlled revisions, and a handover the manufacturer can build from without guessing.

What you can rely on

  • From $1,200 per style, published
  • Design, CAD flats, and full tech pack in one handover
  • Every file yours, usable with any factory you choose

Where Apparel Development Breaks Down

Almost always in the handover between the designer and the factory.

A Sketch Is Not a Specification

Factories quote from tech packs. Without measurement charts, bills of materials, and construction callouts, you get a guess priced defensively — and a sample that does not match your intent.

Sampling Rounds That Never Converge

Each round costs weeks and money. Ambiguous specs are the cause, and the fix is upstream, in the document, not in another round.

Minimums Discovered Too Late

A design gets to sampling before anyone checks that the fabric has a 500-metre minimum. Costing and minimums belong at the design stage.

Files You Cannot Take Elsewhere

Work delivered as flat images, or held by the factory, means you cannot re-tender. Your specification should be portable by default.

Bill of materials
Every fabric, trim, thread, label, and component with supplier references, composition, and consumption.
Measurement chart
Points of measure with tolerances, in your base size, with grading rules across the size run.
Construction detail
Seam types, stitch density, finishing, and assembly sequence where it affects cost or quality.
Colourways
Pantone or lab-dip references per colour option, with placement mapped to each component.
Artwork and placement
Prints, embroidery, and graphics with dimensions, positions, and production methods specified.
Labelling and packaging

FAQ

Fashion Design: Your Questions Answered

The things prospective clients ask us most often about this service.

Ask us something else
What Does a Tech Pack Cost?
From $650 per style when the design already exists, and from $1,200 per style for design plus a complete tech pack. Complex styles with intricate construction, technical fabrics, or extensive artwork sit higher; we quote before starting, never after.
What Are Your Minimum Order Quantities?
Our design and tech pack work has no minimum — we will develop a single style. For production through our partner factories, typical minimums are 100 pieces per colourway and 300 pieces per style. These are separate constraints: 100 each of three colours meets both. Some partners go lower for a first run at a higher unit cost.
Do We Own the Designs and Files?
Yes, entirely, on final payment. You receive editable source files — Illustrator artwork, pattern files, and the tech pack in a portable format — so you can quote with any factory you choose. We do not hold your specifications hostage and we do not resell your designs.
Can You Work with a Factory We Already Use?
Yes. Tech packs are written to industry-standard conventions, so any competent manufacturer can build from them. If your factory has a preferred template we will produce it in their format.
How Many Sampling Rounds Should We Expect?
Two to three for most garments. A precise tech pack is what keeps that number down, which is why we invest in the specification rather than in extra rounds. Complex construction or technical performance requirements can add one.
Do You Offer Sustainable and Certified Materials?
Yes. We can specify GOTS certified organic cotton, Global Recycled Standard materials, and OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified fabrics and trims. We will tell you plainly where a certified option changes cost, minimum quantity, or lead time, and we will not describe a material as sustainable without the certification to support it.
How Does This Fit Alongside Your Technology Services?
The same way a specification fits alongside an implementation. A number of apparel clients also need the ecommerce platform, the stock and order system, or the customer service assistant that sits behind the brand. One contract, one team, and no gaps between the design partner and the software partner.
